Orthodontic Treatment Options

Early Treatment (1st phase)

Most children begin treatment around the age of 12 or 13, once all their permanent teeth have erupted. In a few instances treatment is better started early (6-8 years old) for specific reasons/indications. In fact the AAO (American Association of Orthodontist) recommends that all children at age 7 should seek an orthodontic consultation.

Adult Treatment

Teeth can be moved at any age as long as the teeth and gums are healthy. The expectations from treatment may be different in adult patients, e.g. adults may want different treatment endpoints. This is something that should be discussed with you by your orthodontist when outlining the treatment options.
